Clash Erupts in Rajasthan Bundi: Congress Workers and Farmers Protest

The demonstrators voiced their grievances against the central government, accusing it of neglecting the farmers’ concerns. The intensity escalated as barricades were broken, prompting the police to employ water cannons to disperse the protesters.

Under the leadership of former minister and Hindoli MLA Ashok Chandna, the farmers left Azad Park to participate in the protest. Chandna alleged that the government’s orders led to the brutal killing of farmers during the ongoing movement. The police responded by taking Ashok Chandna and his supporters into custody, with over 200 farmers detained during the clash.

Hindoli MLA Ashok Chandna called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take responsibility and resign, attributing the violent incidents during the farmers’ movement to the Government of India. Expressing concern for the future unity of the country, Chandna emphasized the critical role of farmers and the need for their protection. The Congress Party workers and farmers intended to submit a memorandum to the Collector, addressing their grievances to the President.
Clash Erupts in Rajasthan:Police Actions and Law and Order Measures
The Bundi Police, anticipating unrest due to the farmers’ movement, had implemented extensive law and order arrangements. A force of 500 police personnel, one RAC battalion, and four Additional SPs were deployed to manage the situation. Ramkumar Kaswan, ASP in Bundi, emphasized the right to protest while highlighting the duty of the police to maintain law and order. Choosing a non-aggressive approach, he explained that, considering the nature of the protesters as farmers, the use of water cannons was deemed more appropriate than resorting to lathi charge.
In the midst of rising tensions, the clash in Bundi reflects the broader discord surrounding the farmers’ protest and the challenges faced by those advocating for their rights in the current political landscape.
