Bhagwant Mann Criticizes Centre for Rejecting Punjab’s Republic Day Tableau
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed strong disapproval towards the BJP-led central government for rejecting Punjab’s tableau for the Republic Day parade.
Mann accused the government of harboring hostility towards the people of Punjab, stating, “The centre’s decision reveals the extent of hostility it holds against Punjabis.
It highlights the BJP government’s lack of appreciation for the sacrifices made by Punjabis, as it yet again excluded Punjab’s tableau from the 26th January parade.”
Taking to ‘X’, Mann elaborated, “We submitted three themes including the History of Punjabi Martyrs, the legacy of Mai Bhago Ji, and Punjab’s rich heritage.
This refusal by the BJP government at the centre reflects their prejudiced stance against Punjabis.”
In response, BJP leader Harjeet Grewal defended the rejection, citing specific parameters that a tableau needs to meet for selection.
Grewal clarified, “There exists a committee that evaluates tableaus based on preset criteria. If a tableau fails to meet these standards, it is not selected.
AAP’s attempt to mislead and make baseless allegations against the centre should be substantiated with details on the rejection.”
It’s noteworthy that the centre has turned down the tableaus of Punjab, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.
