Avalanche Warning Issued for Jk Higher Districts in Next 24 Hours
Authorities have issued an avalanche warning for the elevated regions of six districts in Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming 24 hours, according to officials. The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) stated on Wednesday that a “low danger” avalanche is anticipated between 2800 and 3500 meters above sea level in the higher elevations of Doda district in Jammu division and Ganderbal in Kashmir within the next 24 hours.
There is a projected risk of a “medium danger” level avalanche above 2400 meters in Poonch in Jammu division and the districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara in the Kashmir valley during the next 24 hours, as per the officials.
Residents in these areas are strongly advised to exercise caution and refrain from entering avalanche-prone areas until further notice. Today, the upper reaches of these districts experienced light to moderate snowfall.
