Assam Rifles seizes heroin worth Rs 3.5 crore in Manipur’s Jiribam
Assam Rifles and Jiribam Police jointly arrested two people in the Jiribam area of Manipur with thirty soap cases containing heroin valued at Rs 3.5 crore, according to an official.
According to an official, the joint operation was carried out by the security forces on April 24. “Assam Rifles has demonstrated its commitment to a drug-free society while also setting an example for commendably tackling the drug smuggling nexus, contributing significantly to curbing illicit drug trafficking across North Eastern states,” the Assam Rifles said in a statement.
According to an official, on April 12, the Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police collaborated to unearth a massive cache of weapons, ammunition, and war-like supplies in Thoubal.
One bolt-action rifle, one 9mm carbine, one 9mm handgun, four 51mm mortar bombs, eight grenades, ammo, and other war-related supplies are among the items that were found.
“On April 12, 2024, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police, including Commandos, launched a search operation and recovered one bolt action rifle, one 9mm Carbine, one 9 mm pistol, four 51mm mortar bombs, eight grenades, ammunition, and other warlike stores after receiving specific intelligence about the presence of arms and ammunition in general area Pechi in Thoubal district, Manipur.
The police have received the recovered materials,” an Assam Rifles statement stated.
