‘Animal’ Roars at the Box Office with Record-Breaking Opening
Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film ‘Animal,’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has made a spectacular debut at the box office, setting new records. Released on December 1, the film faced competition from Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ but managed to outshine with remarkable earnings. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared that ‘Animal’ earned a whopping Rs 63.80 crore across all languages on its opening day, marking it as a phenomenal success.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Biggest Opener Yet
The film’s success is particularly notable given its non-holiday release, absence of superstar cameos, adult certification, lengthy runtime of over three hours, and a concurrent release with another major film. Despite these factors, ‘Animal’ grossed Rs 54.75 crore in its Hindi version alone, as per Taran Adarsh’s statement, making it the biggest start for an ‘Adults’ certified film and the biggest opener in Ranbir Kapoor’s career.
A Stellar Cast and Unique Storyline
‘Animal’ features an ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandana, Shakti Kapoor, and Triptii Dimri. The plot revolves around a complex father-son relationship portrayed by Anil and Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir’s character is depicted as fiercely protective and obsessive about his father’s affection, leading to intense and instinctive actions. The film was released in five languages – Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, catering to a wide audience.
The Significance of the Title ‘Animal’
During promotional events, Ranbir Kapoor revealed the rationale behind the film’s title. He explained that the film is named ‘Animal’ because the main character, like an animal, acts on instinct rather than thought. This impulsive nature of the character, as Ranbir elaborated, aligns with the film’s title, which becomes evident upon watching the movie. This intriguing explanation has added to the audience’s curiosity and interest in the film.
