Amrit Kalash Yatra Honors Martyrs at GHSS Goha (Marmat): A Tribute to the Brave in “Meri Mati-Mera Desh” Campaign
Doda, October 13: The district administration in Doda, led by District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan, organized the Amrit Kalash Yatra at the Government Higher Secondary School Goha (Marmat) under the banner of the “Meri Mati-Mera Desh” campaign. The event was graced by Idress Lone (JKAS), Deputy Director Employment, District Employment and Counseling Centre Doda, as the chief guest. This yatra is a prestigious initiative launched by the Union Home Minister of India to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.
Community Participation in Meri Mati-Mera Desh
As part of the second phase of the “Meri Mati-Mera Desh” campaign in the district, the public from each community actively participated in Amrit Kalash Yatras. They collected soil from their respective villages, placed it in Amrit Kalash (urns), and sent them to the block offices from October 1st to 13th. These Amrit Kalashs will subsequently journey to the District Headquarters, leading up to a grand event planned for October 22, 2023, when all the Amrit Kalashs from various blocks will converge in Doda. Subsequently, they will travel to the capital city of Jammu before being transported to the national capital, Delhi, from October 22 to 27.
Diverse Participation in Kalash Yatra
During the Kalash Yatra, Tehsildar Marmat, BDO Marmat, Sarpanches, Punches, a significant number of students, officers, and officials were present. The colorful, soil-filled Kalash urns, collected from diverse regions, were prominently displayed during the event. The program garnered participation from the Block Development Officer of Marmat, sarpanchs, panches, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, and students.
