AIIMS Bhubaneswar Introduces Medical Drone Services in Historic Move: Revolutionizing Medical Deliveries with Drone Technology
In a groundbreaking initiative, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar successfully introduced drone services to enhance medical deliveries in Odisha. The historic occasion saw a drone taking off from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Community Health Centre (CHC) Tangi, covering a distance of approximately 70 km.
Pioneering Medical Deliveries via Drone
The drone carried essential blood supplies, weighing around 2 kg, destined for a pregnant woman at CHC Tangi. AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director, Ashutosh Biswas, emphasized the significant role of drone services in delivering health products, including vaccines, drugs, blood units, and diagnostic samples.
Overcoming Geographical Barriers for Timely Medical Deliveries
Biswas highlighted the pivotal role that drone services can play during natural disasters, overcoming geographical barriers and ensuring timely delivery of critical medical supplies to remote areas. The successful initiation of drone services marks a historic milestone in India’s medical landscape, showcasing the potential of technology to transform healthcare delivery.
