Abdul Majid Wani Meets LG Manoj Sinha to Address Doda District Issues
Doda, 15 July, 2024 : In a crucial meeting held today, former Minister and Ex-MLA of Doda, Abdul Majid Wani, engaged in an extensive discussion with the Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Sh. Manoj Sinha.
The meeting focused on addressing critical issues affecting the Doda district and the Chenab Valley , with an emphasis on identifying practical solutions for the socio-economic upliftment of the area.
During the meeting, Wani highlighted several pressing issues, starting with the widespread unemployment among the youth in Doda and the Chenab Valley.
He stressed the urgent need for creating new job opportunities to address this significant problem.
Wani also pointed out the severe electricity shortage in the region and the high bills that residents face, advocating for a reduction in electricity prices to alleviate their burden.
Healthcare was another major concern discussed, with Wani underscoring the need for more specialist doctors and advanced surgical facilities at the Medical College Doda Hospital.
He emphasized that improving medical infrastructure is crucial for the well-being of the local population.
Additionally, Wani urged the commencement of the Dessa Kapran Tunnel construction to improve connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
The discussion also covered the need for recruitment drives in the armed forces and police across all blocks of the erstwhile Doda district.
Wani proposed an increase in the quantity of ration distributed to poor households, highlighting the need to support vulnerable communities. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining existing roads and constructing new ones to enhance transportation and accessibility.
To boost tourism, Wani suggested the creation of tourism development authorities at suitable sites in Doda and the Chenab Valley.
He also highlighted the need for more staff in government schools and newly created tehsils and blocks, stressing the importance of improving education and administration.
Wani proposed the establishment of a government college for women in Doda to promote women’s education and empowerment.Furthermore, Wani requested the granting of Pahari status to the people of the erstwhile Doda district, recognizing their unique cultural and social identity.
The Honorable LG praised Abdul Majid Wani for his dedication to addressing the needs of the local population and assured him of all possible support.
He emphasized the importance of resolving these issues at the grassroots level and instructed the relevant authorities to take prompt action.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani expressed his gratitude to the Honorable LG, remarking that resolving these issues would significantly benefit the mountainous and hilly regions of Doda, integrating them into the mainstream and fostering development over the next five years.
