AAP to unveil explosive revelations in Delhi excise policy case: Atishi
A day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s custody was granted to the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), senior AAP leader Atishi announced plans for an ‘explosive’ press conference regarding the money trail in the excise policy case.
Legal Proceedings and Party Response
Chief Minister Kejriwal’s custody extension till March 28 followed his arrest by the ED in connection with alleged money laundering related to the Delhi excise policy case. Senior advocates and counsels appeared for Kejriwal and the probe agency during the court proceedings. Atishi expressed the party’s disagreement with the court’s decision and pledged to explore all legal options. She criticized the ED’s investigation methods and reiterated Kejriwal’s position as the Chief Minister of Delhi.
AAP’s Protest Plans and Background
As the BJP-led Centre faced criticism for the arrest, the AAP announced intentions to ‘gherao’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on March 26 in protest against Kejriwal’s arrest. The ongoing case involves allegations of irregularities and money laundering in the implementation of the Delhi excise policy. Notably, other senior AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, have faced legal actions in connection with the same case, highlighting the political tension surrounding the issue.
