Aam Aadmi Party Jammu Kashmir Expels Aqib Shah Over Alleged Indiscipline, Young Leader Reacted Back on Social Media
Jammu, Apr 4: The Aam Aadmi Party unit in Jammu and Kashmir has terminated the primary membership of Aqib Shah with immediate effect, citing alleged violation of party discipline.
According to an official order issued by Shadilal Sharma, Shah had been asked to submit a written explanation over certain allegations. Instead of responding through internal party channels, he reportedly chose to make the matter public on social media.
The party said multiple notices were served to him and senior leaders also sought clarification, but no satisfactory reply was received.
“The actions amount to a serious breach of party discipline and internal accountability norms,” the order stated, adding that the decision was taken with the approval of senior leadership.
With the termination now in effect, Shah is no longer authorised to represent the party or use its name in any capacity.
Soon after the decision was made public, Shah reacted strongly. In a Facebook post and later in a live video, he criticised the party leadership, accusing it of avoiding accountability and suppressing dissent.
“Leaders should lead from the front, not hide from pressure,” he said in one of his posts. In another remark, he said he was “no more part of the party” and used sharp language to criticise its functioning.
Shah also alleged that repeated show-cause notices were used to silence his voice, and maintained that he would continue to raise public issues.
Referring to recent internal developments within the party, including the removal of Raghav Chadha from a key parliamentary role, Shah suggested that dissenting voices were being sidelined.

The development has triggered reactions on social media, with some users questioning the party’s internal handling of dissent. Party leaders, however, have maintained that disciplinary norms must be upheld.
With this episode, a new friction/crossfield is likely to be seen which would impact the party’s internal structure in the region.
