FIR Filed Against Udhayanidhi Stalin in Mumbai: A Controversial Remark Sparks Legal Action.
Mumbai, Maharashtra – In a significant turn of events, an FIR has been lodged against Udhayanidhi Stalin, a prominent DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister, for his controversial remarks concerning ‘Sanatan Dharma.’ Mumbai’s Mira Road police have taken action under sections 153 A and 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) following a demand by a BJP delegation in Tamil Nadu.
BJP’s Call for Legal Action
A delegation representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu presented a memorandum to the state police, urging them to register an FIR against Udhayanidhi Stalin. This move comes in response to the DMK leader’s statements during a conference held in Chennai. Udhayanidhi, who serves as the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in the Tamil Nadu government, made remarks equating Sanatan Dharma with diseases like “dengue, malaria, fever, and corona.” Furthermore, he expressed a vehement stance that Sanatan Dharma should not merely face opposition but be completely eradicated.
Prime Minister Modi’s Intervention
This controversy did not escape the attention of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who intervened by addressing the issue during a meeting of the Council of Ministers. According to sources, he instructed his ministers to aggressively counter the attack on Sanatan Dharma. This development adds a political dimension to the FIR and raises questions about the role of central government leaders in addressing state-level controversies.
Opposition’s Distancing Act
In the midst of this controversy, several political parties that form part of the Opposition INDIA bloc, such as the Congress, Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Aam Aadmi Party, have distanced themselves from Udhayanidhi Stalin. This move underscores the political divisions and diverse opinions surrounding this contentious issue.
