Around 2.7 Lakh Students to Appear in JKBOSE Class 10, 11 and 12 Exams
Class 10 examinations begin on October 19, with 40 vigilance teams deployed to prevent unfair practices across Kashmir and Jammu’s winter-zone areas.
October 16: Around 2.7 lakh students are expected to appear in the annual Class 10, 11 and 12 examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), with the examination process set to begin on October 19.
JKBOSE Secretary Gh Hassan Sheikh said on Friday that Class 10 examinations would commence on October 19, followed by Class 12 examinations on October 21 and Class 11 examinations on October 29.
The examinations will be held across all 10 districts of Kashmir and the winter-zone areas of Jammu, including Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri and parts of Reasi.
2,602 Examination Centres Established
According to Sheikh, the board has established 2,602 examination centres in the winter-zone areas. Superintendents, deputy superintendents and other supervisory staff have also been appointed to oversee the smooth conduct of the examinations.
As part of the security arrangements, confidential examination material has been dispatched to designated police stations. The board has constituted around 40 vigilance teams to monitor examination centres across districts and prevent the use of unfair means.
JKBOSE has also sought police assistance and requested district magistrates to consider imposing restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), wherever necessary, to prevent outside interference during the examinations.
Question Papers Based on NEP 2020
Sheikh said the question papers have been prepared in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with greater emphasis on analytical skills and competency-based assessment rather than rote learning.
He urged students, particularly those appearing for their first Class 10 board examinations, to remain calm and approach the papers with confidence.
“Students should not feel stressed or consider these examinations something extraordinary,” he said.
He also directed examination staff to maintain discipline while dealing with students patiently and sensitively.
Grievance Cell Set Up for Students and Parents
To address examination-related concerns, the board has established a grievance monitoring cell where students, parents and teachers can report complaints.
Students have also been advised to enter their roll numbers and question-paper series details carefully on their answer scripts to avoid complications during evaluation and result compilation.
Sheikh said the board would maintain strict vigilance against unfair practices while ensuring a fair and student-friendly environment throughout the examination process.
