Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have increased the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹100, marking the second price hike in two months. This price hike comes into effect on November 1, with commercial LPG cylinder prices rising while the prices of domestic LPG remain stable.

    Domestic and Commercial Prices

After this adjustment, a 19 kg LPG cylinder is priced at ₹1,833 in Delhi. In other major cities, the cost for the same cylinder is ₹1,943 in Kolkata, ₹1,785 in Mumbai, ₹1,914.50 in Bengaluru, and ₹1,999.50 in Chennai. Domestic LPG prices for a 14.2 kg cylinder are ₹903 in Delhi, ₹929 in Kolkata, ₹902.5 in Mumbai, and ₹918.5 in Chennai.

Subsidy Increase and PM Ujjwala Yojana

The Union cabinet approved an increase in cooking gas subsidy from ₹200 to ₹300 per cylinder for about 96 million low-income households on October 4. This move coincides with the upcoming assembly elections in five states and the national elections scheduled for the following year. The government is focusing on rural women with additional subsidies and has expanded the PM Ujjwala Yojana scheme to target an additional 7.5 million women, aiming to increase the total number of beneficiaries to 103.5 million within the next three years. The Centre had previously reduced the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cooking gas cylinder by ₹200 as a gift for women ahead of Raksha Bandhan on August 29.
