Iran Closes Strait of Hormuz Again, Restrictions Reimposed
In a twisted move, Iran has again closed the Strait of Hormuz and reimposed restrictions on the key global energy route, giving rise to further speculation and concerns.
A day back, after President Donald Trump said that he would continue the naval blockade in full force, Iran revised the restrictions on the critical waterway.
Tehran has accused Washington of breaking the promise by continuing its naval blockade of ships sailing to and from Iranian ports.
Earlier, the United States had said that the key energy route would be open and that vessels visiting Iran would be allowed, but under strict control.
Now, Iran has reacted strongly by reimposing restrictions on the key energy route, which carries one-fifth of the world’s oil supply.
Despite the earlier decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, United States President Donald Trump announced that the full naval blockade would continue until Iran reaches an agreement, including on its nuclear programme, with Washington.
