    DHSK Constitutes Inquiry Committee to Probe Death of Pregnant Woman at District Hospital Kulgam

    In a big move, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has constituted an inquiry committee comprising senior officers to probe the death of a pregnant woman at District Hospital Kulgam.

    The 28-year-old pregnant woman, Ms. Nayeema, wife of Shoukat Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Kulgam, died on the 17th of June, 2025, after which an inquiry committee was constituted to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

    The committee comprises senior medical officers, including Dr. Khalid Parvaiz, I/C CMO Anantnag – Chairman; Dr. Shahid Tak, Consultant Cardiologist, JLNM Hospital Srinagar – Member; Dr. Manzoor A. Rather, Consultant Anesthetist, DH Ganderbal – Member; and Dr. Muzaffar Ali Khan, I/C Consultant Surgeon, District Hospital Budgam – Member.

    The committee has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation and submit its findings by June 19, 2025 (Evening).

    Amid growing concern over maternal healthcare standards and accountability in district hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities’ move to conduct an in-depth inquiry could reveal critical details leading to greater clarity and accountability.
