
Jammu Kashmir Govt Re-Constitutes High-Power Vigilance and Monitoring Committee
The Jammu and Kashmir General Administration Department has accorded sanction to the re-constitution of the High-Power Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for overseeing the implementation of provisions under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
This high-level committee will be headed by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, and will include the following members include; Hon’ble Minister in Charge, Finance Department Hon’ble Minister in Charge, Social Welfare Department, All Hon’ble Members of Parliament from Jammu & Kashmir U.T. belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, All Members of the Legislative Assembly belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Chief Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir, Administrative Secretary, Home Department, Director General of Police, J&K, Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Director/Deputy Director, and National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The High-Power Vigilance and Monitoring Committee will convene at least twice a year — once in January and once in July.
The committee will review the implementation of the provisions of the Act, assess the relief and rehabilitation facilities provided to the victims, and monitor the prosecution of cases under the Act.
