    Direct Jammu–Srinagar Train to Start in September: Railway Minister

    Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Thursday that a direct train service between Jammu and Srinagar will commence in September, once the ongoing work at Jammu Railway Station is completed.

    Speaking to reporters, the minister said that construction at the station is progressing. “The work is expected to be completed by September. With the availability of platforms 5 and 6, Vande Bharat trains will run directly between Jammu and Srinagar,” he said.

    The Union Minister visited Jammu Railway Station to inspect the ongoing development works. His visit is part of the preparations for the launch of the much-anticipated train service to the Kashmir Valley.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to flag off the Vande Bharat trains tomorrow at Katra. He will also inaugurate the Chenab and Anji bridges, and lay the foundation stones and inaugurate several projects worth Rs 46,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNO)
