Pakistan will face immense trouble as India has taken a huge leap by responding to pakistan’s sponsered terrorism. Indian authorities took five key steps that would dent the Pakistan, a lot. As the country highest-decision making body on national security took the key punishing measures that would hit the Pakistan economically, which is already reeling under economic slowdown/turmoil.

What are these Five Steps ?

1) Suspension of Indus Water Treaty

While responding to terrorist attack, India has suspended the India Water Treaty, under which 39 billion cubic metres of water from the Indus river system flows from india to pakistan, every year. No, India has taken a deep step by suspending the indus water treaty, which was signed on September 19, 1960, between India and Pakistan and brokered by the World Bank.

The treaty fixed and delimited the rights and obligations of both countries concerning the use of the waters of the Indus River system.

Now after this move, the water supply from the Indus river and its distributaries which include the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Satluj will be stopped, and its going to impact impacts tens of millions of people in Pakistan. This move will hit the lifeline of the country.

Earlier, the Indus Water treaty withstood three wars between India and Pakistan but is now suspended indefinitely, after country’s highest-decision making body took a punishing measure against Pakistan.

2) Closure of Attari Wagah Border

The second bold move taken by Indian authorities include the closure of iconic Attari-Wagah border, a critical point for trade between India and Pakistan with immediate effect. It has also been stated that those who have crossed over with valid endorsements may return through that route before 01 May 2025.

As the Attari Land Port has served as a critical trade route through which the key Indian exports and the pakistan imports were as per legally operated, would face a significant impact affecting the small traders and manufacturers. This decision would re-haunt pakistan as it will affect the small traders and industries who are totally reliable on these daily use items as a means of bread winning/livelihood.

3) Ban on Pakistani Nationals in India

The third major blow indian authorities gave that pakistani nationals now would not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visas. It has been stated that any SVES visas issued in the past to Pakistani nationals would now stand cancelled.

It has been further said that any Pakistani national currently in India under SVES visa has 48 hours to bag-pack and leave the country.

4) Expulsion of Military Advisors

All military advisors posted at the Pakistan High Commission in New
Delhi have been expelled, signalling a
downgrade in military-to-military
diplomatic engagement. The defence or military officials – Naval and air advisers in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared Persona Non Grata. They have a week to leave India. India will be withdrawing its own defence – navy, air advisers from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These posts in the respective High Commissions are deemed annulled with immediate effect. Five support staff of the service advisers will also be withdrawn from both High Commissions immediately.

5) Reduction of Staff In High Commission.

India has asked Pakistan to reduce its
diplomatic presence in New Delhi to a skeletal staff of 30, effectively slashing the mission’s current operating capacity of 55, to be effected by 01 May 2025.

CCS- The Cabinet Committee on Security which is the country’s highest-decision making body on national security, has vowed to bring the perpetrators of the attack.

The barbaric attack on the tourists in Pahalgam claimed 28 lives and leaves many injured. Now, India has retaliated economically, giving a huge blow to Pakistan, which would now hit the upcoming generations.
