
JK Govt Constitutes UT and District Level Zoonosis Committees
Jammu Kashmir Govt via Government Order No.: 221-JK(GAD) of 2025 Dated: 14.02.2025, has accorded the Sanction to the constitution of Union territory Level Zoonosis Committee and District Level Zoonosis Committee(s) under One Health Mission, comprising the following, for effective prevention and control of zoonotic diseases in the Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Terms of Refrence
i. To advise to various facets of the work on Zoonosis prevalent in the Union
territory and list Zoonosis infections/diseases according to priority and
importance under various heads like bacterial, viral, fungal, parasites and
protocol to enable the scientists in the field to tackle the problem on a
priority basis.

ii. To formulate the terms of reference and modus-operandi for developing the
networking between various sectors viz. medical, veterinary and allied
departments /institutions.
iii. To review the burden of priority zoonotic disease prevalent in the UT and
advice the respective UT authorities on specific measures to be taken for
prevention and control of zoonotic diseases.
iv. To monitor the progress of efforts undertaken by respective UT authorities
for prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases.
v. To pursue the formation of Zoonosis Committee at the District level and
provide guidance to district committees on specific issues arising out of
Zoonosis.
vi. To advise the authorities for capacity building and joint training of medical
& veterinary professionals.
vii. To advise regarding the location and requirement of special laboratories at
the UT or regional level for diagnosis of selected zoonotic diseases.
viii. To identify those involved in zoonotic disease research for potential
collaboration.
Terms of Reference:
i. To advise to various facets of the work on Zoonosis in the District and list

ii. To work in liaison with UT level committee to formulate the terms of
reference and modus-operandi for developing the networking between
various sectors viz. medical, veterinary and allied departments /institutions.
iii. To review the burden of priority zoonotic disease prevalent in the district
and advice the respective district authorities on specific measures to be taken
for prevention and control of zoonotic diseases.

iv. To monitor the progress of efforts undertaken by respective authorities for
prevention and control of emerging and reemerging zoonotic diseases.
v. To coordinate with the District Level Rapid Response Team (RT) for control
of zoonotic diseases in the district.
vi. To advise regarding the location and requirement of special laboratories at
the UT or regional level for diagnosis of selected zoonotic diseases.
vii. To advise the respective authorities for capacity building and joint training
of medical & veterinary professionals.
