Crackdown against Child_Marriage in Assam: 416 people arrested Assam Police has arrested 416 people, and nearly 335 cases have been registered so far in connection with child marriage flight in Assam, announces Chief Minister.
Chief Minister of Assam, Himant Biswas, while taking to microblogging X, posted the status of the massive crackdown drive against child marriage, launched during nighttime on December 21 & 22.

Himanta says, in the third phase of the crackdown, 416 persons were arrested, and 335 cases have been registered and will be produced in court today.

The Chief Minister vows to end this social evil, reads an X post. The first phase against the crackdown was launched in February, whereas the second phase of the crackdown was launched in October, where 3,483 and 915 persons were arrested, respectively, and 4,515 and 710 cases were registered in the two phases, respectively.
While responding to opposition MLAs, the chief minister says no one would be allowed to play with the lives of Muslim boys and girls and also challenged them to stop this menace before 2026.
