Silence Finally Broken: Imran Khan Issues Final Call for Islamabad March on November 24
Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan’s most popular political leader, currently detained in Adiala Jail, has broken his silence and issued a final call for a protest march to Islamabad, scheduled for November 24.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Imran’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry and his sister Aleema Khan shared his message, breaking weeks of silence. Chaudhry stated that Imran Khan declared this as a final call for anti-government protests, with the entire party leadership expected to participate. He emphasized that demonstrations will occur wherever party supporters are present.
Chaudhry also revealed that a special committee has been formed to oversee the protest. However, he withheld the names of committee members due to fears of their arrest. This committee will have the authority to negotiate or, if necessary, call off the protest.
What Are Imran Khan’s Demands?
Taking to the microblogging platform X, Imran Khan outlined the main primary demands in a post, include the Annulment of the 26th constitutional amendment and restoration of the Constitution to its original form, Restoration of the stolen mandate, and the Release of political prisoners held without trial.
Imran stated in the X post that the 26th amendment has led to what he describes as an “undeclared martial law,” with a “bogus parliament, president, prime minister, and democracy.” He claimed that the current government’s oppressive tactics surpass those of former President Pervez Musharraf, undermining democracy, the rule of law, and freedom.
Imran also criticized what he called “facilitators” who support this system, claiming they are enabling continuous attacks on Pakistan’s Constitution, laws, and judiciary.
The incarcerated former Prime Minister is facing numerous charges, some of which, according to human rights organizations, are reportedly in violation of human rights and are viewed as politically motivated.
