Key Highlights:

  1. NIA attaches property of Hizbul Mujahideen overground worker Nasir Rashid Bhat.
  2. Bhat was involved in the targeted killing of a Sarpanch in Kulgam in March 2022.
  3. The case reveals a broader Hizbul Mujahideen conspiracy to disrupt India’s security.

In its ongoing campaign against terrorism, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the property of Nasir Rashid Bhat, an overground worker for the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant group.

This action is linked to the killing of Sarpanch Adoora-Kulgam on March 11, 2022. The attachment of Bhat’s residential property, located in Tengpora village, Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, was carried out under Section 33(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1947, following directives from the NIA Special Judge in Jammu.

The NIA’s investigation, which succeeded the Kulgam police’s inquiry, has uncovered that the murder was part of a larger HM scheme aimed at undermining India’s integrity, sovereignty, and security.

According to NIA findings, Bhat played a crucial role by providing logistical support to the terrorists. His Alto car was used to transport the assailants and conduct reconnaissance of the Sarpanch’s residence.

Additionally, Bhat’s involvement extended to alerting HM terrorists about the target’s presence. The ongoing trial includes six accused individuals charged in connection with this case.

The NIA continues to pursue legal action against those involved in this terrorist operation.
