JK Police’s Cybercrime Unit Recovers Rs. 109898 in Online Fraud Case

In a commendable feat, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of the J&K Police District Doda has successfully recovered an online defrauded amount of Rs. 1,09,898 in July 2024. This achievement showcases the unit’s dedication and proficiency in combating cybercrime since its establishment on February 7, 2024.
The police statement revealed that the CCIU received complaints from six victims, namely Farhan Ahmed Dev, Mohd Sehran, Faheem Nisar, Salinder Kumar, Mohd Ameen Malik, and Tabinda Wani.Each of these individuals had been defrauded online, prompting the CCIU team to launch an intensive investigation.
Employing advanced technical skills and persistent efforts, the CCIU team was able to trace and recover the defrauded amount. This success is part of a larger trend of the unit’s effectiveness, as it has recovered a total of Rs. 24,47,453 in defrauded money since its inception.
The CCIU’s quick response and effective recovery process have earned praise from the victims and the broader community.
The unit’s ability to handle complex cybercrime cases and return the lost money to the rightful owners underscores the importance of having specialized teams dedicated to tackling the growing menace of online fraud.
