Waiting List Candidates Call for Amendment to Waiting List Regulations in Jammu Kashmir

Jammu, 11 July, 2024: A large assembly of waiting list candidates demonstrated today at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, urging the LG administration to revise the waiting list regulations to consider resignations within a reasonable period, as is the practice in other Indian states and union territories.

The candidates, representing various departments including JE (R&B), JE (Jal Shakti), Finance Accounts Assistant, JKPSI, VLW, Stock Assistant, and others, stressed that this amendment would save over 700 deserving candidates from disillusionment and help tackle the severe unemployment issue in Jammu and Kashmir.

Recent recruitment drives have resulted in numerous vacancies due to mass resignations, with many selected candidates moving to higher-level posts, leaving several positions unoccupied.

The candidates noted that current rules do not automatically activate the waiting list to fill vacancies caused by mass resignations, resulting in seat wastage and resource misallocation.

The candidates urged the authorities to ease the waiting list rules and consider early resignations within a year for advertised posts, emphasizing that neighboring states like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, and Gujarat have already implemented similar regulations, optimizing resource allocation and preventing seat wastage.

“We believe in the government’s commitment to justice and equality. We urge the LG administration to address this critical issue and amend the waiting list rule to consider resignations. This would be a significant step towards empowering the youth and addressing unemployment in J&K.”
