On Sunday, Pakistan police raided the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan in Sector F-10, as reported by ARY News. This operation followed the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants by the Sargodha anti-terrorism court.

Reacting to the raid, Ayub claimed that both federal and provincial governments were attempting to arrest him, asserting that the struggle for the party’s rights would continue until PTI Chairman Imran Khan becomes prime minister.

Despite Ayub’s resignation in June to focus on his role as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, PTI’s core committee and parliamentary party opposed his decision. They unanimously resolved that Ayub should continue serving as Secretary-General, as per instructions from PTI founder Imran Khan. The party’s statement highlighted the trust and appreciation expressed by both the committee and Imran Khan for Ayub’s contributions and leadership.

Ayub’s resignation letter, addressed to Imran Khan and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, indicated forthcoming changes in PTI’s organizational structure as directed by the former Prime Minister. This development comes amid reports of internal rifts within PTI. According to sources cited by Geo News and The News International, 27 PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) lawmakers were contemplating resignations from the National Assembly, with 21 considering forming a forward bloc due to the leadership’s failure to secure Imran Khan’s release from prison.
