Tulip Garden Blooms with Record Visitors: 286K and Counting
Since its opening, the Srinagar tulip garden has drawn an impressive 286,350 visitors, with daily attendance consistently on the rise.
The garden has experienced a notable increase in visitors, especially since Eid, with more than 10,000 people visiting daily. Even during heavy rains, the garden remains popular, attracting thousands of visitors, as reported by Contractor Mudasir Khan, who manages the garden, to Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
In the past week, the garden welcomed 92,000 visitors, with 12,202 on Wednesday, 23,660 on Thursday, 17,580 on Friday, and 21,121 on Saturday. Despite the rain, the garden still saw 9,100 visitors on Sunday, 8,300 on Monday, and 10,350 on Tuesday.
Khan is confident that this year’s visitor count will surpass last year’s record of 366,000. He attributes this growth to the government’s efforts to improve the visitor experience and introduce new tulip varieties.
Established in 2007 to extend the tourism season in Jammu and Kashmir, the tulip garden continues to meet its objective. However, its popularity has led to traffic congestion on the roads to the garden, presenting challenges for traffic authorities.
To attract more visitors, especially school groups, the garden offers a 20% discount on entry fees, with an extended offer to accommodate more students.
Overall, the strong response from tourists highlights the tulip garden’s significant role in promoting tourism in the valley and offering visitors a memorable nature-filled experience.
