Delhi CM Arrested in Excise Policy Case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) swiftly moved the Supreme Court seeking to quash Kejriwal’s arrest, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.

    Enforcement Directorate’s Action

An ED team conducted a search operation at Kejriwal’s residence before his arrest. This action followed the Delhi High Court’s refusal to grant interim protection to Kejriwal in the case. The agency aims to record Kejriwal’s statement regarding the formulation of the excise policy and bribery allegations.

    Protests and Reactions

AAP workers protested outside Kejriwal’s residence, denouncing the ED’s move. Party leaders condemned the arrest, labeling it a conspiracy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Minister Imran Hussain expressed solidarity with Kejriwal, condemning the BJP’s alleged attempts to thwart AAP’s progress.
