LG-Sinha Committed to Quality Healthcare for All in JK
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare services to the residents of the Union Territory. Speaking at the closing ceremony of a health camp organized by Rotary Club in Poonch and Rajouri, Sinha highlighted the significant strides made under the Sehat Scheme, with a total expenditure of Rs 1,735 crore on citizen healthcare by the administration till the first week of January this year.

The LG commended the contributions of trained specialists from across the country who played a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive range of surgical treatments. During the week-long health camp in the border districts, over 600 surgeries were performed, benefitting residents in far-flung areas. Sinha attributed this success to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to delivering “quality, affordable, and accessible” healthcare services to all.

Sinha emphasized the advancements in Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare infrastructure, highlighting state-of-the-art facilities, digital interventions, and reforms in medical education and critical care. The LG specifically outlined the administration’s focus on four crucial aspects: doctors, drugs, diagnostics, and delivery mechanisms. These initiatives have collectively contributed to strengthening the overall healthcare ecosystem of the region.

Directing the health secretary and senior officials, Sinha urged the need for widespread awareness regarding facilities like Tele-MANAS (Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States) and the availability of doctors in hospitals and health centers. The LG emphasized the establishment of institutionalized mechanisms to ensure a swift response from ambulance services, particularly in remote areas. Sinha expressed his gratitude to the medical professionals and Rotary Club members for their dedicated and selfless service, ensuring that the people of Rajouri and Poonch can benefit from specialized surgeries without financial burden. He also called upon the Rotary Club to replicate their efforts by organizing similar health camps for the people of Doda and Kishtwar districts.
