Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh announced that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will be paused on Tuesday morning as Rahul Gandhi has been issued a summons to appear before the District Civil Court in Sultanpur in connection with a defamation case.
The Yatra, in its 37th day, will resume from Fursatganj in Amethi at 2 pm on February 20th. Rahul Gandhi faces a case over using derogatory remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a Bengaluru conference in 2018.
The Congress leader could face a maximum punishment of two years if sufficient evidence is found.
