BJP’s J P Nadda and Ashok Chavan Nominated for Rajya Sabha Polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls, nominating its president, J P Nadda, from Gujarat and former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan from Maharashtra. Ashok Chavan recently joined the BJP after leaving the Congress. The BJP’s candidate list for the biennial Rajya Sabha polls comprises four nominees, including one from Gujarat and three from Maharashtra.

• Ashok Chavan in Maharashtra: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who recently switched to the BJP from the Congress, is nominated for the Rajya Sabha polls from his home state. Chavan’s entry into the BJP is strategically significant.
• Other Candidates: The BJP’s candidate list includes three more nominees for the Rajya Sabha polls in Maharashtra.
• Outgoing Union Ministers: Notably, Union ministers and outgoing Rajya Sabha members Mansukh Mandaviya and Parshottam Rupala from Gujarat, and Narayan Rane from Maharashtra, have not been renominated. Speculation arises about their potential participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
