
WTF siezed drugs, arrests 3 after recieving a tip
In a significant operation, the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) has arrested three individuals and recovered Morphine valued at Rs 1 crore. The operation took place in the Murshidabad district and was carried out at Nowdapara Railgate, adjacent to National Highway 34, falling within the jurisdiction of Berhampore Police Station. The STF acted on a tip-off that led to this operation.
The Arrested Individuals
The three individuals arrested in connection with this case are:
- Abdul Hamid alias Burhan (35): A resident of Palashipara in Nadia district.
- Sohal Rana Sk (35): Also hailing from Palashipara in Nadia district.
- Gayetri Halder (69): A resident of Lalgola in Murshidabad.
Significant Morphine Seizure
The STF successfully recovered a substantial quantity of contraband Morphine, weighing approximately 1.01 kilograms (1.010 grams). The estimated market value of the seized Morphine is around Rs 1 crore.
Details of the Operation
The raid was conducted on Wednesday afternoon at Nowdapara Railgate based on the information received by the STF. It underscores the dedication and efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating illegal drug trafficking and associated criminal activities.
Investigation and Legal Action
Upon investigation, it was revealed that Gayetri Halder had collected the contraband from Guwahati with the intention of delivering it to Abdul Hamid alias Burhan and Sohal Rana Sk. Subsequently, the STF West Bengal lodged a complaint at Berhampur Police Station, and a police case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
This operation reflects the commitment of law enforcement authorities in West Bengal to tackle illegal drug activities and ensure the safety and security of the community.
