Security Alert: Parliament Staff Warned Against Photography and Video Recording
In a recent circular, the acting joint secretary (security) of Parliament House issued a stern warning to staff against engaging in photography and video recording within the Parliament House complex, citing security concerns. Despite prior instructions, some officials have reportedly failed to adhere to the established security protocol.
High Security Measures in the Most Threatened Place in India
The circular emphasizes that the Parliament Complex is deemed the most threatened place in India, necessitating stringent security measures. As part of its strategic arrangements, the prohibition of photography and video shooting is integral to the planned security strategy, considering the elevated risk associated with such activities.
Strict Prohibition and Priority on Security
Highlighting the direct threat posed by cameras, spy cameras, and smartphones to the safety and security of the complex, the circular strictly prohibits any form of photography within the Parliament House Complex. This prohibition extends to officials and visitors equipped with mobile phones or smartphones. The priority of Parliament Security Service, as outlined in the circular, is the protection of Parliament, parliamentarians, high dignitaries, and staff.
This cautionary measure is particularly significant in light of the upcoming Budget session of Parliament commencing on January 31 and follows an incident over a month ago when two individuals breached security by jumping into the Lok Sabha chamber, releasing yellow-colored smoke canisters. The circular underscores the critical need for vigilance and adherence to security protocols to ensure the safety of Parliament and its occupants.
