DGP Swain Approves Rs 3.71 Crore Welfare Aid: Relief for Deceased Personnel Families and Support for Serving Officers
The Director General of Police (DGP), RR Swain, has authorized a Special Welfare Relief amounting to Rs 2.20 crore for the families of 10 deceased police personnel.
In addition to this, welfare loans totaling over Rs 1.51 crore have been approved for 119 currently serving police personnel. Furthermore, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each has been granted to the Next of Kin (NOK) of two martyred police officials.
Noteworthy is the allocation of Rs 22 lakh each as special relief for the dependents/legal heirs of the deceased police personnel. From this special relief fund, an immediate provision of Rs 1 lakh each has been extended to the families/NOK for funeral expenses by the Police Headquarters (PHQ) through their respective units/Districts. All financial aid and welfare loans are sourced from the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
For personal reasons, a welfare loan of Rs 42 lakh has been sanctioned for 42 police personnel for self-marriage. Additionally, Rs 1.50 lakh each has been approved for 63 police personnel to cover marriage expenses for their sons/daughters. Furthermore, 11 police personnel have been granted a welfare loan of Rs 1.5 lakh each for the higher/professional education of their wards.
In specific cases, a police personnel member received Rs 1 lakh for the technical education of their son, while Rs 50,000 each has been sanctioned for two police personnel for circumcision/Akhandpath ceremonies for their wards. These welfare loans are repayable and are deducted in monthly installments from the salaries of the police personnel without any interest.
In a gesture of compassion, DGP Swain has generously granted Rs 1 lakh each for the marriage ceremonies of the daughters of martyred Ct. Mushtaq Ahmad & Ct Raj Kumar.
