Residential House and Vehicle Seized by J&K Police for Alleged Militancy Links
In Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir Police took action by attaching a residential property and a vehicle, asserting their connection to potential proceeds of militancy activities in the region.
A spokesperson confirmed this move, stating, “In an ongoing effort against harboring militants and aiding them logistically, police seized a residential house and a Swift car under relevant sections of the UA (P) Act in Baramulla.”
Elaborating further, the spokesperson explained, “During the investigation of specific cases—FIR No. 104/2023 U/S 7/25 I.A Act, 120-B IPC, 13,16,18,23 UA (P) Act at Police Station Uri—one Swift Car with registration number CH01AD-9588 was confiscated. This vehicle was allegedly involved in the illicit transportation of arms and ammunition, suspected to be used for militant activities. As per the powers vested under Section 25 of the UA (P) Act, the DySP SIU Baramulla, CIO of the case, proceeded to attach the vehicle, considering it as proceeds linked to militancy, upon due approval from the competent authority.”
Similarly, the statement highlighted another instance: “In connection with case FIR No. 46/2023 U/S 307 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act, and Section 16,18,19, 20 and 38 of UA (P) Act at Police Station, Kreeri, a residential house owned by Farooq Ahmad Bhat son of Late Ghulam Mohammad, situated at Wanigam Payeen, land survey numbers 2020 min & 2021 min, was attached. The property was suspected of being used to shelter militants. Consequently, exercising powers under Section 25 of the UA (P) Act, Dr. Khalid Ashraf- JKPS, DySP Ops Kreeri, IO of the case, proceeded to attach the residential house, viewing it as proceeds arising from alleged militancy, after necessary approval from the competent authority.”
The actions taken by the police align with their continued efforts to curtail any potential support or resources aiding in militant activities within the region.
