Apart from Pujara’s suspension, three other players—Jack Carson, Tom Haines, and Ari Karvelas—have been stood down by the club. This decision was made in response to their behavior during the dramatic 15-run victory over Leicestershire in the previous match, as stated by the head coach, Paul Farbrace.

“We have made Jack and Tom unavailable for selection for this game at Derbyshire,” Farbrace announced. “Following the umpires and match referee’s decision to charge both players with on-field level one and level two offences, we needed to take a stance, and show them we will not condone such behaviors. Ultimately, it has cost us the availability of Cheteshwar, and we have been deducted 12 points.”

Pujara himself had been charged with a Level 1 offense in the opening game against Durham, while Tom Haines faced a similar reprimand after a match against Yorkshire at Hove.
