IGP Kashmir, VK Birdi, conducted a comprehensive review meeting in Budgam where he underlined a staunch commitment to tackling the drug menace with zero tolerance, as highlighted in an official release.

The purpose of Birdi’s visit to Budgam was to oversee and revamp security and crime-related mechanisms in the district. During the meeting, Birdi placed significant emphasis on overhauling these mechanisms to foster a peaceful society, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the community.

Expressing a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics, Birdi stressed the importance of stringent action against drug peddlers to combat drug trafficking and maintain law and order in the district.

Moreover, he urged for the swift resolution of pending cases, emphasizing the critical role of thorough investigations. Birdi also advocated for strengthening police-public relations by adopting a public-centric approach, which builds trust and narrows the gap between law enforcement and citizens, creating a safer community environment.

Birdi highlighted the need for innovation to counter anti-social elements, emphasizing synergy among various forces coupled with active public cooperation and monitoring at different levels to yield more effective results in maintaining peace.

Recognizing the importance of people’s cooperation, Birdi emphasized the necessity of strengthening the police-public bond at the grassroots level by addressing public grievances.

Further stressing the need for a robust security grid, Birdi urged officers to enhance coordination among various ground agencies. This proactive approach aims to bolster the anti-terrorist grid, gather specific intelligence, and intensify operations to ensure peace and stability in the district.
