    General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), is set to embark on a visit to Japan from New Delhi, aiming to fortify defence relations between the two nations, as stated in an official press release by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

    This visit emphasizes the escalating significance of defence cooperation between India and Japan. General Anil Chauhan’s itinerary includes engagements with Japan’s senior military leadership, visits to defence formations, and interactions with various officials and institutions.

    During his visit, the CDS will have meetings with high-ranking dignitaries such as the Minister of Defence, Minoru Kihara, and General Yoshida Yoshihide, the Chief of Staff of Japan Self-Defence Forces.

    Engagements are also planned with key personalities from Japan’s Acquisition Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) and the National Institute of Defence Studies (NIDS).

    The discussions are slated to cover a wide array of topics, including regional security, bilateral defence cooperation enhancement, collaboration in defence equipment, and technological advancements.

    General Chauhan will interact with the faculty and research scholars at NIDS, visit military establishments, and engage with units of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) during his visit.

    In a move to honor historical ties and promote peace, General Anil Chauhan will pay homage at the Hiroshima Peace Park and lay a wreath in memory of the victims of Hiroshima.

    He will also visit the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Hiroshima, symbolizing the commitment of both countries towards peace and tranquility in the region.

    The visit aligns with the 71st anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Japan in 2023, highlighting the commitment of both nations to reinforce their special Strategic and Global Partnership It is poised to further elevate bilateral cooperation across various strategic domains, particularly in defence collaboration.
