Mumbai Police Arrest Six in Diesel Smuggling Case
The Yellow Gate police in Mumbai have apprehended six individuals, including sailors, for their alleged involvement in a diesel smuggling operation. The arrest followed the seizure of 19,500 liters of diesel, valued at Rs 18 lakh, in a boat near the Sewri jetty along the Arabian Sea.
Coastal Guard’s Vigilance Leads to Arrests
The operation came to light when coastal guard officers spotted an unknown boat on the Arabian Sea on the night of November 15. Their prompt reporting and alert to the police led to swift action and the subsequent arrests.
Seizure of Boat and Investigation
The police have seized the boat used in the smuggling operation, estimated to be worth up to Rs 3 lakh, along with other items found inside the boat. With the initial phase of the investigation completed, further inquiry into the case is ongoing.
