Teacher Among Three Terror-Operatives Arrested with Arms in Poonch District

Police have successfully apprehended three terror operatives, including a Government teacher, in an overnight operation in the village of Bahram Gala in the Surankote tehsil of Poonch district. The arrests were made during an operation that continued until the evening, resulting in the recovery of arms, ammunition, mobile phones, and cash from the suspects.

Arrest and Intercept at Bahram Gala

The three terror operatives have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, a Government teacher, Mehraj Ahmed, and Gulshan. The police acted on specific intelligence and laid a naka at Bahram Gala, intercepting a Safari vehicle at 11.30 pm. Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, the Government teacher, was apprehended from the vehicle, leading to the disclosure of Gulshan’s identity. A subsequent midnight raid at Gulshan’s hideout resulted in the recovery of arms, ammunition, and cash.

Arms and Ammunition Seized

The seized items include two pistols, four loaded magazines, six mobile phones, and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash. The consignment of arms and ammunition appeared to have been smuggled from across the Line of Control, with the intention of being transported to South Kashmir with the assistance of the arrested terror operatives.

Tempo Traveller and Third Operative Arrested

Further interrogation of the apprehended operatives led to the identification of Mehraj Ahmed, the owner of a Tempo Traveller, tasked with transporting the consignment to South Kashmir via Mughal Road. Mehraj Ahmed was successfully arrested by the police.Terror Module and Ongoing Investigations:The terror module, believed to be associated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit, raises concerns about potential further involvement. Authorities are actively working on leads to determine whether additional individuals were part of the terror plot. The arrested operatives are undergoing sustained questioning to gather more information about the source of the smuggled weapons and the intended recipients in South Kashmir.
