Seven Stocks Under F&O Ban by NSE for November 15, 2023
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has placed seven stocks under a ban for trade in the futures and options (F&O) segment for Wednesday, November 15, 2023. This action is taken as these securities have surpassed 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL). While trading in these stocks is restricted in the F&O segment, they remain available in the cash market.
List of Stocks on F&O Ban
The stocks included in the F&O ban list by NSE for November 15 are Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals, Delta Corp, Hindustan Copper, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Manappuram Finance, SAIL, and ZEEL. The NSE routinely updates this list based on the securities meeting the threshold of 95% of the MWPL.
Trading Restrictions and Guidelines
The NSE has informed that trading in these derivative contracts is only allowed to reduce existing positions. Any attempt to increase open positions in these securities will lead to penal and disciplinary actions. During the ban period, no fresh positions are allowed in the F&O contracts of the affected stocks.
Indian Stock Market Performance
On Monday, Indian stock indices experienced a decline amid selling pressure in various sectors, including IT, consumer durables, and financial stocks. This downturn is attributed to investor caution ahead of the release of inflation data, combined with persistent foreign fund outflows and a weakening rupee. The BSE Sensex closed lower by 325.58 points, and the Nifty declined by 82 points. While the broader BSE midcap index saw a marginal increase, the smallcap index dipped slightly.
Sectoral Performance
In sectoral performance, IT, consumer durables, tech, FMCG, services, and financial services sectors witnessed declines. Conversely, the energy, utilities, power, and auto sectors registered gains in the day’s trading.
