    The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating the likelihood of widespread light to moderate rain or snowfall on Thursday and Friday. The meteorological office expects cloudy but dry conditions for Wednesday, with the possibility of isolated light rain or snowfall in the late evening at higher elevations in Jammu and Kashmir.

    According to the forecast, on November 9 and 10, there is a significant chance of widespread light to moderate rain or snowfall in the higher regions of Jammu and Kashmir and the Ladakh Union Territory.

    The forecast suggests that the northwestern parts and other elevated areas may receive 4-5 inches of snow, affecting routes like the Mughal road, Sinthan top, Razdan Pass, and Zojila pass. Meanwhile, most of the valley’s plains will experience rainfall.From November 10 to 16, the weather is expected to remain dry, with no significant likelihood of heavy precipitation.

    Independent weather observer Faizan Arif, who closely monitors Kashmir’s weather, mentioned that an active Western Disturbance is set to influence the region, bringing widespread rain and snow between Thursday and Friday. The precipitation is expected to commence in the afternoon on Thursday, beginning at higher altitudes and gradually extending to the plains by evening.Arif indicated a 50-60 percent chance of snowfall in the Shopian plains of south Kashmir, with the possibility of snowfall in the surrounding plains as well. Snowfall is anticipated at elevations exceeding 2000 meters.

    The Shopian district has the highest likelihood of snowfall in the plains, followed by the Kulgam district in south Kashmir. However, Srinagar is not expected to receive snowfall based on current weather conditions.

    The recorded minimum temperatures on Wednesday in various regions were as follows: Srinagar 2.0 degrees Celsius, Qazigund 1.8, Pahalgam -0.6, Kupwara 1.8, Kokernag 3.8, and Gulmarg 1.5, as reported by the Meteorological Office.
