Qatar LNG Tanker Hit in Arabian Gulf as Iran-US Ceasefire Talks Continue

DOHA, November 1, 2026 (VoM News): A liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker operated by Qatar’s Nakilat was struck by unidentified objects while sailing through the Arabian Gulf, as per details available with VoM News.

Sources have informed that assessment of the vessel have been formed as diplomatic efforts continue to revive the ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

Meanwhile, Nakilat have confirmed the incident that occurred on Friday night in a statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange.

The company identified the vessel as Al Mayeda and said no crew members were injured and no environmental impact had been reported.

“The vessel is in a safe condition, operational, and the impact of the incident is being assessed,” the company said. No party has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The incident came as Qatari officials continued efforts to facilitate renewed engagement between Tehran and Washington.

An Iranian delegation travelled to Doha after Qatari mediators visited Tehran, in what appeared to be part of efforts to revive the ceasefire agreement.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a major flashpoint amid the conflict, with Iran and the United States imposing competing restrictions on maritime traffic.

Commercial vessels have repeatedly come under attack during the hostilities, raising concerns about the safety of shipping and energy supplies.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps has also released a map outlining a proposed maritime zone over which it claims authority, stretching between areas near Qeshm Island and the United Arab Emirates’ coast.
