India Reminds Pakistan of Not Accepting its Soldiers Killed During 1999 Kargil conflict; Cites Minority Rights

New Delhi, October 23, 2026 (VoM News): India has strongly criticized and firmly responded to the remarks regarding the Jammu kashmir made by Pakistan at the United Nations.

Over its remarks on Jammu and Kashmir, India reminded the Pakistan of its record on minority rights and its not accepting the bodies of soldiers killed during the 1999 Kargil conflict.

Bhavika Mangalanandan, who is presently the first Secretary at India’s Permanent Mission, made the remarks during an interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief concerning funeral rights in exceptional circumstances.

Mangalanandan labels the Pakistan’s approach and statement as a “deep irony”, stated that Pakistan was speaking about faith, religious freedom and burial rights when, according to India, it had refused to accept the bodies of some of its soldiers killed during the Kargil conflict.

She said the Indian Army had buried a number of Pakistani soldiers with military honours and in accordance with Islamic rites.

While responding to Pakistan’s references to Jammu and Kashmir, Mangalanandan said Islamabad should instead focus on developments in areas of the region administered by Pakistan, including Rawalakot.

She also accused Pakistan of failing to protect its minority communities and rejected its criticism of India.

Mangalanandan also questioned the aspects of the Special Rapporteur’s report, arguing that its treatment of funeral practices during the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately focused on the Global South, and qustioned the report’s approach to funeral rights involving terrorists, while stressing the rights and suffering of victims of terrorism.

India has globally presented the evidences of accusations of pakistan-sponsered terrorism, and accuses pakistan of creating disturbances in the jammu kashmir and other areas.
