Missile Reportedly Strikes Riyadh Airport, Flights Diverted Amid Escalating Houthi Attacks

NEW DELHI, October 10, 2026 [VoM News]: In Saudi Arabia, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was reportedly hit by a missile Saturday, leading to an evacuation and mass disruptions to flights as tensions with other parts of the region have intensified.

The attack was confirmed by two regional officials in an Associated Press account, which said the missile hit a passenger terminal, injuring several people. The ambulances were seen hurrying towards the airport.

Flight-tracking service Flightradar24 said incoming flights were diverted, and Kuwait Airways said flights have been cancelled after the airport was closed.

The Canadian Embassy issued a warning for Canadians to stay out of the airport because of continued military operations.Canada’s embassy said its citizens should avoid the airport for the ongoing military activities.

The strike occurred two days after another attack in which three Saudi nationals were killed, including a pilot. Since a Saudi-led coalition has begun military action against Houthi rebels in Yemen, Riyadh’s airport has been attacked on several occasions.

The Houthis had not made an immediate claim about the incident, but have previously claimed responsibility for attacks. Meanwhile, several international airlines such as Air India, Flydubai and Lufthansa Group have halted flights to Saudi.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency says there is a growing threat to civilian aircraft in the wake of missile and drone firings. The Saudi government hasn’t immediately confirmed any of the latest casualties or damage.
