Francesca Albanese of UN rejects claim by Israel that 170 slain Gaza Journalists were “terrorists”.
GENEVA, October 5, 2026 [VoM News]: UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territory Francesca Albanese denied an Israeli military claim that 170 journalists and media workers killed in Gaza were members of armed groups, stating there is “no evidence to support this allegation.”.
The comments were made after an Israeli military statement that said there was an intelligence investigation which found at least 170 individuals who are journalists or media personnel to be part of the military wings of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other armed groups.
The Albanese denied these claims by stating that there is no proof of any involvement on part of reporters for warfare.
Also accusing Israel for escalation through her alleged disinformation scheme; she plans to release an investigation paper on this matter along with other related issues like journalist deaths from Gaza conflict.
However, according to them, the Israeli army claims their results come from an investigation of information sources which connect people with militant groups. According to its publication, there is evidence that information about Palestinian militant organizations was shared following several journalist fatalities which led to establishing these supposed links between them.
Competing claims are not independent of each other as they were published together by us.
This issue is happening during ongoing global concerns about journalist and media worker deaths from the war between Israelis and Palestinians that started on October 1st, 2023; press freedom and human rights organizations are constantly demanding an impartial investigation into these killings.
