Middle East Crude Oil Exports Surpass Pre-War Levels Despite Escalating US-Israel War With Iran and Tanker Attacks
London, October 5, 2026 [VoM News]: The day that US-Israeli War against Iran escalated, Crude Oil exports from the Middle East surpassed the pre-war days on multiple days in the second half of September even as tanker attacks surged along major commercial channels in the region.
Regional crude exports were above pre-war levels on 24 September, 27 to 29 September, according to provisional ship-tracking data from Kpler, a commercial firm that tracks the shipments, Reuters reported.
Back then, exports averaged 19.5 million to 22.5 million barrels per day (bpd), up from 18 million bpd, on average, in the year before the war.
On October 1, the seven-day moving average was about 18.5 million bpd.
The number is for crude shipped through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, exports from regional terminals and ship-to-ship transfers in the Gulf of Oman.
The rise comes despite greater security concerns in connection with commercial shipping. Seven tanker incidents have been reported in the Strait of Hormuz by shipping intelligence company Marisks, Reuters reported.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations have also seen a number of reports concerning shipping in the same area since 2 October, including reports from the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Aden.
The figures show that the Middle Eastern flows have remained sizeable even as the region remains wracked by conflict and risks to some of the world’s key oil routes.
