Users Can Now Make Audio and Video Calls on WhatsApp Web

New Delhi, July 29, 2026 [VoM News]: In a fresh rollout feature for users, the Meta-owned WhatsApp on Tuesday introduced browser-based audio and video calling feature which will enable the users to make and receive calls directly through a web browser without downloading the desktop application.

As VoM News has learnt that this new feature would supports both individual and group calls and includes screen sharing, emoji reactions, and a dedicated Calls tab for accessing call history and favourites.

The feature is likely aimed at users who rely on shared computers, work devices that restrict app installations, or those who simply prefer using a browser, as per the WhatsApp Application.

WhatsApp also has also rolled out a call transfer feature, enabling users to shift an ongoing group call between devices, such as from a smartphone to a desktop, without disconnecting.

In a bid to improve the security, WhatsApp has introduced a waiting room feature for calls created through invite links. When the “require approval to join” option is enabled, participants must wait for the host’s approval before entering the call.

The update also brings two enhancements to call quality. QuickHD is designed to deliver high-definition video from the start of a call, while noise suppression reduces background noise to improve voice clarity, especially in noisy surroundings.
