According to a spokesman of the Balochistan government Shahid Rind, the bus was also carrying passengers from another bus which was earlier unable to make it through and the overcrowded condition led to the unfortunate event.
The authorities have initiated the process of identifying the dead bodies.
Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti and President Asif Ali Zardari offered their condolences to the families of the victims and urged the government to provide proper medical facilities to those injured in the incident. Such crashes are a common phenomenon in Pakistan as a result of poor road infrastructure, low traffic safety standards, rash driving particularly in hilly regions, officials added. An investigation has been ordered into the cause of the incident.
