Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Chairman of the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), has announced that the 10th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) will take place on October 2-3, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Held under the theme ‘Empowering Global Action: Unlocking Opportunities and Advancing Progress,’ the WGES aims to build on the outcomes of previous editions by enhancing collaboration among all stakeholders.
Al Tayer highlighted the summit’s significant role since its inception in 2014 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. The summit supports global efforts to balance economic development with environmental sustainability by providing a platform for experts, stakeholders, and decision-makers in energy, economy, climate change, and green finance to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and discuss proactive solutions for a sustainable green economy.
The 10th WGES will focus on several key thematic pillars, including:
- Decarbonisation
- Clean Energy Advancements (such as Green Hydrogen and Energy Storage)
- Climate Finance
- Circular Economy
- Using Technology to Tackle Climate Change
- Youth in Climate Change
- Food and Water
The event will underscore the UAE’s leadership in enhancing global cooperation to combat climate change and support global climate efforts, while also highlighting Dubai’s commitment to sustainable development and transitioning to a green economy.
