Yusuf Pathan’s Gratitude:BJP’s Criticism of TMC’s Candidate Selection
In response to the announced candidates, West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar questioned TMC’s decision to field Yusuf Pathan and Kirti Azad. Majumdar raised concerns about TMC bringing in candidates from outside the state, stating, “Now, when the candidates are announced, it’s clear that TMC is bringing people from outside. I don’t know if Kirti Azad and Yusuf Pathan are Bengali; Yusuf Pathan is from Gujarat, and so is PM Modi, but for them, PM Modi is an outsider.”

Expressing dissatisfaction, Congress General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh criticized TMC’s “unilateral announcement” of candidates. Ramesh emphasized the importance of a respectful seat-sharing formula through mutual negotiations. He stated, “Our doors are open for negotiations and seat-sharing talks, but there should be no unilateral announcement of the seats.” Ramesh highlighted the desire to strengthen the INDIA alliance in West Bengal and expressed uncertainty about the situation.
